It’s a well known fact that teachers frequently have to reach into their own pockets to purchase the necessary supplies for their classrooms and for their students, which can quickly add up to a significant expense.  To help relieve this financial burden, Cherished Memories for a Lifetime (CML) and the Vernon Wells Perfect 10 Foundation are partnering to host a Back to School Drive to benefit teachers, who teach in some of our neediest communities, and students from low-income families.  Art/school supplies will be collected from September 1-15, 2010.  Teachers from selected Dallas ISD and Arlington ISD schools have submitted Wish Lists that include supplies that they typically run out of during the school year, supplies they use in abundance, and supplies they need specifically for their school.

School supplies such as #2 pencils, notebook paper, folders, crayons, scissors, and markers are needed, as well as gift cards and financial donations.  Schools selected to receive donations include W.W. Bushman Elementary School, George Washington Carver Learning Center, and Roquemore Elementary, as well as a selected number of Educational First Steps affiliate daycare centers.

For a complete list of schools and needed school supplies, as well as to see the Teachers’ Wish List, please visit CML’s website http://cmlmemories4life.org.  Gift cards and financial donations may be mailed to: CML, Back to School Drive, P.O. Box 513, Cedar Hill, TX 75106-0513.  Secure online donations may be made via the CML website, on the CML Facebook page or on the Vernon Wells Foundation website.  To arrange a pick-up or to drop-off supplies, please contact CML at  admn@cmlmemories4life.org.

Cherished Memories for a Lifetime (CML), a 501(c)(3) Exempt Organization, was founded to enhance the quality of life of  “working poor” and “distressed” families by providing  monetary gifts for daily living expenses, and gifts of stress-relief escapes, and fun activities.  CML’s gifts and programs are designed to recognize and address the needs of the moms and dads, the needs of the children, and the needs of the family unit as a whole.  For more information about CML, please visit http://cmlmemories4life.org.

The Vernon Wells Perfect 10 Foundation was founded by Major League Centerfielder (Toronto Blue Jays), Vernon Wells III and his wife, Charlene, to support and protect single mothers and children in need.  The foundation also supports non-profit organizations that provide general welfare for children.  More information about the foundation can be found at http://vernonwellsfoundation.org.
